February tenek make their television debute (interview) on a Special PBS program series “Any Road with Brick Briscoe” originally aired on WNIN and streaming worldwide on PBS.

Meanwhile both Geoff and Pete continue with several individual projects. Updates about those projects can now be found within the ‘Projects‘ section within the tenek website!

 

In February tenek contributed a NEW and unreleased track called ‘Chameleon’ to be featured on the last of the Electronic Saviors vol 6  (ES6) compilations in support of cancer charities.

September brings the re-release of tenek’s second EP, ‘EP2 [originally released by Toffeetones in October 2011] which has not been available on any digital platform since 2017. This EP has now been made available once again to the public in DIGITAL format ONLY via the band’s imprint label (Alien Six Productions).

November tenek chose to release to the public an instrumental version of their 3rd album ‘Smoke & Mirrors‘ which was originally intended for film/tv sync licensing and has since been well received by various listening audiences!

While both Pete and Geoff continue working on their other projects, away from tenek, they continue plans for their complete back catalogue (that was regained in 2017) for reissue on all digital platforms. Releases to come – ‘Where’s The Time?‘ and ‘Submission‘ singles (minus remixes from Shaun Brooks/Toffeetones) [TBD].

Early in the year tenek signed with publisher Expressive Artists (USA) for a selection of the band’s back catalogue.

Fall came with the return of tenek’s critically acclaimed second album ‘On the Wire  (Originally released in 2010 on CD Toffeetones Records – no longer available) that has once again been made available to the public in DIGITAL format ONLY via the band’s imprint label (Alien Six Productions) to include such singles as: ‘Blinded By You’ and ‘Higher Ground’ … among many other fan favourites + a bonus track Synchronise” which was previously only available on the ‘Blinded By You’ Single.

Meanwhile both Geoff and Pete continue with several individual projects. Updates about those projects can be found within the band’s Blog and/or News sections.

The band is taking a bit of a hiatus; both Pete and Geoff have been busy with several side projects, which will be revealed over the coming months via their website blog and various social media posts.

In the mean time, tenek are pleased to announce that they have regained full control of their back catalogue from their former label and have implemented plans for the Digital Re-release under their imprint label (Alien Six Productions) starting with their debut album ‘Stateless’ (plus 2 bonus tracks from an unreleased Club Promo CD), as well as other releases ‘One The Wire’ and ‘EP2’ (TBA).

tenek mark their 10th Anniversary!

Early in the year brought about a synchronization opportunity for the band. A selection of tenek’s music has been included within the indie film “The View from Here” (kitchen scene).

In the Fall, a headline performance on the first of a two-day event: The Dave Charles Music Extravaganza – HFM 102.3 (Market Harborough, England).

Production of a brand new music video “Imitation of Life” – inspired from their album, ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ to coincide with their upcoming EP [Released Fall 2016].
As the year comes to a close, plans are already in the works for the 2017 calendar year as it will be tenek’s 10th Anniversary!  *Live performances (TBA).
tenek continues to be involved with music licensing opportunities to various industries globally.

Early Spring was the band’s first live performance at the ‘SoundStock Festival’ in aid of Essex Air Ambulance, Chelmsford Community Radio and Wheels for Stanley (Chelmsford, UK). Then in May, the band debuted new music performing as special guest support for Republica (London, UK).
Summer included a return performance at ‘BAS 2015’ Festival (Basildon, UK) opening for De/Vision.

And in July came the announcement of having signed with Distortion Productions for the North American release of their upcoming third album, ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ (release Winter 2015). Both parties are extremely excited about working together again having formed close ties during the production of, ‘Electronic Saviors 2’ [2012]. The band will be contributing an exclusive track for, ‘Electronic Saviors 4’ [release early 2016].

Fall brings not only the release of tenek’s new single, ‘What Kind of Friend?’, as well as a special announcement of an additional band member: Steve Clark (drums). The NEW sounds coming from the tenek studio are becoming quite massive these days!

In February they re-issued their first ‘EP 1+’ (plus remixes by: Louis Gordon, Starstruck & Cramp) released by Alien Six Productions.

Spring of 2014 the band had a headline performance in London and for the second year running, they performed at the synth-based music event ‘i-Synth II’ (Lille, France) and ending the Summer with a performance at the Silicon Dreams Festival (Liverpool, UK).

Early March was the release of the band’s third EP ‘Another Day’ on their own label (Alien Six Productions) to coincide with their tour with Republica (UK); once again having secured the main support slot on all dates within the UK.

April the band performed at a new synth-based music event “i-Synth I” (Lille, France). And in May the band was invited back to Basildon (UK) to perform at the ‘BAS 2013’ festival opening for the main act, Heaven 17!

Early October unveiled the new digital release of, ‘Tenek vs The Last Cry’ EP feat Julianne Regan (All About Eve) in conjunction with Brighton band ‘The Last Cry’. All proceeds are donated to The Sophie Lancaster Foundation, released by Alien Six Productions.

During the months of October – December, tenek was the special guest band for the De/Vision “25 Years Best Of Tour” (Germany).

April saw the band touring with Toyah once again – having secured the main support slot on all dates of the ‘Changeling Resurrection 2012’ tour.

In May the band performed at a unique musical event ‘Bas II’ in Basildon, which celebrates the town’s contribution to electronic music. tenek were the main support act on the opening night, playing immediately before the main act, Blancmange!

During May an exclusive new track ‘World Of No Relief” was released as the opening number on a compilation CD, entitled ‘Electronic Saviors Volume 2’. This CD was released by Metropolis Records in the USA; with all proceeds going to cancer charities. The track was written specifically for this project and will not be available elsewhere.

The band began 2011 by playing a festival in Bucharest, followed by a four-month break from live shows.  The excellent Sim Films shot a video for the track ‘Higher Ground’ at Coalhouse Fort in East Tilbury. This video has been heavily featured on the Tuune TV music video show on Sky channel 195.

The band played numerous dates around the country in the latter part of 2011, including three dates with 80’s icon Toyah, to promote a new release entitled ‘EP2’, which featured two new songs plus two alternative versions of ‘Higher Ground‘ and ‘The Art Of Evasion‘ from the 2nd album. One of the new tracks ‘What Do You Want?‘ featured guest violin from Chris Payne from the original Gary Numan band, who also co-wrote the Visage classic ‘Fade To Grey’.

2010 saw the band play many more gigs including Moscow with Assemblage 23 in February, plus dates in Germany supporting De/Vision on their POPGEFAHR tour in May.

In September tenek toured Germany once again; playing eight dates with Iris (USA band) and De/Vision.

The single ‘Blinded By You‘ was released in July to excellent reviews and more radio play than ever before. This was taken from the new album ‘On The Wire‘, which was released on 6th September.

The band supported Republica in October as well as remixing a new track for them, ‘Christiana Obey’ (Tenek Remix) intended for release on their forthcoming EP.

The album ‘Stateless‘ (completed October 2008) was released in March; with a single ‘Submission‘ preceding it in late February. The band made a live debut at Synthetic Club, London in January closely followed by a date supporting 80’s synth legends The Human League at Buxton Opera House; where the band were extremely well received by a partisan crowd.

In April tenek made their European debut at the ‘Pluswelt’ festival in Krefeld, Germany alongside Mesh, De/Vision and Marsheaux, receiving an excellent reception.

The band appeared at the Summer Darkness Festival in Utrecht, Holland in August; alongside Front 242 and also supported A Flock Of Seagulls at the O2 Academy in Islington, London in September.

No Time For Fighting‘ was featured on a Major Records compilation CD ‘Orbit Electro’, released in July featuring Ladytron, IAMX and Dragons amongst others. And a remix promo CD was completed in September 2009 featuring five new remixes for the alternative club scenes; both in the UK and Europe.

tenek were formed in June 2007 by Peter Steer & Geoff Pinckney. The band’s debut CD was a self-funded, limited edition four-track EP, which was released in September of the same year. Buoyed by the success of this release, the band decided to record an album and was duly signed by Matt Gunn to his fledgling Toffeetones label. The first release, in October 2008, was a single entitled ‘Where’s The Time?
